Moving timelines
Plans that count back from your move date, so each task has a day and nothing waits for the last weekend.
8-week moving checklist
The full two-month plan: enter your move date and every task from booking to handing over keys gets its own day.
Last-minute moving checklist
Fourteen days or fewer: the bookings that cannot wait first, fast packing second, and a short list of what to leave until after.
Long-distance moving checklist
For moves where the belongings and the people travel separately: delivery windows, an inventory, the car and the days in between.
Moving day checklist
One day, in order: before the truck, loading, locking up, unloading and the first evening.
How to choose
Choose by how much time you have. The 8-week moving checklist is the full plan: it spreads booking, sorting, notices and packing over two months and changes for renting or owning, movers or a hired truck, children and pets. If your move is two weeks away or less, use the last-minute checklist instead. It does not squeeze the long plan into fewer days; it puts the things that cannot be done late first and tells you what to leave until after the move.
Choose the long-distance checklist when your belongings travel separately from you or the journey takes more than a day. It adds the parts a local move does not have: a delivery window, an inventory, a travel bag for the days in between and the car.
The moving day checklist has no dates because it covers a single day, in the order the day runs: before the crew or the truck arrives, loading, leaving the old home, arriving and the first evening. Use it together with whichever timeline you followed.
