Moving out and moving in
Checklists for the home you leave and the home you arrive in, plus the list of people and services that need your new address.
Apartment move-out checklist
For renters: notice, small repairs, the inspection, keys and the record of how you left the place.
Move-out cleaning checklist
Room by room, top to bottom, with supplies counted from the size of the home.
First home move-in checklist
For new owners: before the keys, key day and the first month of finding out how the house works.
Change of address checklist
Everyone who holds your address, grouped by type so you can work through them in one sitting.
How to choose
These four checklists deal with places and paperwork, not boxes. The apartment move-out checklist is for renters: notice, the handover inspection, keys and the record you keep of how you left the place. It stays general, because the lease you signed decides the details, and it tells you where to look in it.
The move-out cleaning checklist is the practical half of the same job. It goes room by room, counts cloths and bags from the size of the home and adds sections for carpets, appliances that stay and outdoor space. Use it for a rental handover or before a sale completes.
The first home move-in checklist starts where the others stop: the days before you get the keys, the day you get them and the first weeks, when you learn where everything in the house is.
The change-of-address checklist lists the kinds of organisations that hold your address, grouped so that you can work through them in one sitting. It names categories, never forms, because official procedures differ in every country.
